About Us

We are the Reno Guardian Angels. We help those who are often unable to help themselves or even know how to seek help. We protect those who are often overlooked, neglected, under-represented, discriminated against, oppressed, or disadvantaged.

We were founded in Reno in 1996 and have been active every year since. The Reno chapter is the third longest-running chapter in the global Guardian Angels network which includes at least 100 cities in 11 countries.

We are not a religious or political organization and we do not discriminate based on race, gender, age, religion, income, political view, sexual orientation, or disability. We are a community activist group that strives to improve communities, while also educating and empowering its members with skills in first aid, CPR, basic law, self-defense, leadership, teamwork, responsibility, discipline, public speaking, and community relations.

Blanket-Bundle Drive

Donate a Blanket Bundle to Reno's Downtown Homeless

The Reno chapter of the Guardian Angels plans to distribute at least 200 blanket-bundles to Reno's Downtown homeless this holiday season. With your help, we've already doubled our initial goal, and now we're striving to triple it and raise $6,000 this holiday season!

Your donation of $5, $10, $20 or more will allow us to help more than 200 homeless residents of the Downtown Reno area stay just a little warmer this winter.

This years campaign is already a huge success, and we have a few weeks of fundraising to go! We're very pleased and the recipients are SO appreciative! Please help.

Each blanket-bundle contains a 4-foot by 5-foot signature-red fleece blanket, a knit cap and a pair of large fleece gloves. The bundle is contained in a polyester carrying strap, allowing the items to be easily carried and stored.

A little warmth and a little comfort goes a long way.

We've received welcome media attention, spreading the word across the community. And last year, local representatives were able to share Reno's story with the world at a Guardian Angels national convention in New York City. Now, other Guardian Angels chapters around the country are now helping their own communities each winter with warm and comforting blanket-bundles.

Each year, the need grows...

And each year, our community responds with open hearts and open wallets.

In our first year, we raised enough money to distribute 400 blanket-bundles, quadrupling our initial goal. Last year — despite the very challenging affect of the economy on charitable fund-raising — we still raised enough to distribute over 100. We continue to distribute the blankets year-around on an as-needed basis as we come across people in need during our walking security patrols.

Now more than ever, we need to help our local community with the most basic of needs.

You can help! Take a moment and donate whatever you can — even a $10 or $20 donation will make a huge and possibly life-saving difference to someone out there who is very cold. We'll do the rest!
